Join our Farm School

We would love to have you at our next class!

At Violette Hill Farm School, we believe in the power of hands-on learning and the deep connection between people, animals, and the land. Our goal is to provide children and families with a unique opportunity to experience farm life up close, while learning the essential skills that farming offers. From caring for animals to understanding the cycles of nature, we encourage curiosity, compassion, and responsibility in every lesson.

Meet Miss Emily

As the founder and lead teacher at Violette Hill Farm School, my passion for farming and education has been a lifelong journey. Growing up on a hay farm, I spent my childhood immersed in the rhythms of farm life—working alongside my family, showing animals through 4H, and developing a deep love for dairy cows. My experiences led me to study Animal Science in college, where I had the privilege of traveling across the U.S. and the U.K. as part of a 4H Dairy Judging team. I also gained hands-on experience milking cows on an 80-cow dairy farm, further shaping my understanding and appreciation for the agricultural world.

Now, as a mother, I want to pass on that same love of farming to my own son and to the families who join us at the farm. I’m passionate about giving children the chance to learn through real, hands-on experiences with animals and farming, helping them build skills and confidence that go far beyond the classroom. Every lesson is designed not only to teach but to inspire curiosity, responsibility, and a deeper connection to the natural world. My hope is that each child leaves our farm with a greater understanding of the vital role farming plays in our lives and a sense of fulfillment from learning through experience.

"Self-education through play and exploration requires enormous amounts of unscheduled time—time to do whatever one wants to do, without pressure, judgment, or intrusion from authority figures. That time is needed to make friends, play with ideas and materials, experience and overcome boredom, learn from one’s own mistakes, and develop passions.” ~ Peter Gray
