"Hands-On Farm learning: Cultivating Essential Skills for Life!"

Sign your child up for a hands on learning experience

  • Our classes are held every Friday and Saturday. We offer 2 sessions Friday 9am-11am or 11am -1pm and 1 session Saturday 10am-12pm

  • We always start our class with 30 minutes of free time. This allows the children to go greet their favorite animals and see friends. We think this is important so the children are not rused into a lesson. After free time we have 1 hour lesson. This will change every week. The last 30 minutes will be craft time or free time with the animals.

  • At Violette Hill Hay Farm, we offer a hands-on, immersive experience where kids of all ages can connect with nature and animals. Each week brings new, practical lessons in farm life, helping children learn valuable skills, build confidence, and enjoy the outdoors. Our engaging, flexible approach ensures every class is a fun and educational adventure!

Farm School:

Farm School at Violette Hill Hay Farm offers a unique, hands-on learning experience designed for children to engage with farm animals and the agricultural world. Each session is structured to provide a balance of free time, guided discussions, and educational lessons, ensuring that students not only learn but also enjoy their time on the farm.

Schedule Overview:

15 Minutes of Free Time: Students start with a chance to explore, socialize, and get acclimated to the farm environment. This time allows them to bond with their peers and engage in unstructured play.

15 Minutes of Group Discussion: During this time, students gather to share their thoughts and observations about what’s happening on the farm. This discussion allows them to express their interests and curiosities, guiding the focus of the upcoming lesson.

1 Hour Animal Science Lesson: This core part of the program is tailored to the students' interests, derived from the group discussion. Each week will feature a different animal science topic, where students will learn about animal care, behavior, and the responsibilities of farm life. The lessons are designed to be interactive and engaging, with plenty of opportunities for questions and hands-on learning.

30 Minutes of Free Time: After the lesson, students have another opportunity to explore and interact with their favorite animals. This free time is not only about play but also about building connections with the animals, which reinforces the learning from the lesson.

Mini Projects:

Throughout the program, students will have the chance to work on mini projects with specific animals, allowing them to track progress and observe changes over time. These projects foster a sense of responsibility and provide insights into animal care and behavior.

Customizable Learning:

Understanding that every group of children has unique interests, we can incorporate additional farm animals based on what the students express they want to learn about. This flexibility ensures that Farm School is a dynamic learning environment where children can thrive.

Focus on Learning and Growth:

At Violette Hill Hay Farm, our primary goal is to create a nurturing learning space where children can grow alongside the animals. Every aspect of Farm School is designed with the students' education in mind, promoting curiosity, empathy, and a deep understanding of farm life.

Join us at Farm School for a fun and educational experience where children can learn about animals and farming while making lifelong memories!

"Self-education through play and exploration requires enormous amounts of unscheduled time—time to do whatever one wants to do, without pressure, judgment, or intrusion from authority figures. That time is needed to make friends, play with ideas and materials, experience and overcome boredom, learn from one’s own mistakes, and develop passions.” ~ Peter Gray
